2. Descanso Gardens

The Descanso Gardens is a 150 hectare park made up of various gardens, woodland and chaparral. More than 750,000 visitors come here every year to explore the nine different themed gardens. A highlight are the 40,000 camellia bushes that have been part of the gardens for decades. Blooms abound in the 50-acre California oak forest from October through March. The best time for the 4,000 roses in the rosarium is from April to December.

The "Jewel of the Peninsula" is located on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula, just 10 miles south of Los Angeles Airport. The garden has a wide variety of plants, some from as far away as Australia, the Mediterranean and South Africa.
